Hi! I'm Mikaela!
My favorite part of sports has always been being a part of the team. I was happier cheering from the sidelines than being on the field. I feared the moment my coach would put me in. My love and desire to stay on the sidelines pushed me to start taking photos at sports games. I found that my favorite position was behind the lens, so I decided to start an Instagram page titled, Mikaela Carroll Photography.
Over my time at BBP, I photographed hundreds of games, events, and concerts, and got hired for events outside of school and doing freelance. While always a phantom at heart, I took my talents to Clemson University, where I am currently a senior Graphic Communications major and minoring in Brand Communications.
At school I serve as a student photographer for Clemson Athletics where I shoot games, matches, or meets on a weekly basis. These photos are used in game for social media graphics, post game on the game write-up, and then imported into a library for the athletes to access. I have also had the amazing opportunities to travel to Raleigh NC for the ACC Track and Rowing Championships and across the pond to Greece and Croatia with our athletic teams.
In the spring of 2023, I got the incredible experience to intern at Clemson Football as a graphic design intern. After a whole semester working with the creative media team, I became more skilled in the Adobe suite making recruitment graphics, graphics for social media, posters, and other signage. Interning at Clemson Football taught me so much, and I am glad to still be a part-time intern now helping with recruiting personalized and VDP graphics and assisting the creative media team with photoshoots, and other events that need coverage.
I still don't know what caused me to steal my moms camera that day and bring it to my friends lacrosse game 6 years ago, but it changed my life forever. Being behind the camera became an escape for me, and still is where I feel the most at home, even when it brings me places far out of my comfort zone.
